Today’s news: Snake found but tortoise escapes

April 1, 2011

Here are some fascinating articles that the humans (and animals ) at Current Instincts are reading today. Did we miss something major? Let us know below or send us an email.

1. Missing Bronx Zoo Cobra is found. Turns out the venomous Egyptian cobra that escaped from her exhibit in the Bronx Zoo was  just chilling in another room — if you believe news reports, that is. Personally, we think she had a grand ol’ time exploring the city. (MSNBC)

They'll NEVER catch me.

2. … but now a tortoise is missing. We need to stop letting zoo animals watch Madagascar if we want them to stay put. (NY Mag)

3. Boy skies into bear den — and lives to tell about it. A 12-year old Swedish boy awoke a female bear when he accidentally skied into her home. Naturally she attacked him, but then when she realized he wasn’t putting up a struggle, she let him go. Good bear! (Gadling.com)

4. GoDaddy CEO kills elephant. Bob Parsons went on an African vacation, shot an elephant, and recorded the entire thing. The video, titled “My vacation video”, is super creepy and pretty disturbing. (MSNBC)

5. Experts say Knut drowned. Almost two weeks after the death of our favorite polar bear, experts have determined the cause of his early passing. Apparently, he collapsed because of swelling in his brain and then drowned when he fell into his enclosure’s pool. (MSNBC)

Good to hear that the snake has been found. The Go Daddy CEO needs a good beating. Why would anyone kill an elephant? Where’s the challenge (some hunters say they do it for the challenge of the hunt)? I don’t like hunting of any kind for any reason, but why kill a sweet elephant? Some people just suck. This Knut story has been changing a lot, I little confused as they have announced the cause of his death three times, with three different causes, seems suspicious.
